Expansion device
The coolant is transported through a capillary tube that acts as a expander as it cools the gas and returns it to a liquid.

Thermostat
The thermostat regulates the temperature inside the refrigerator and enters the refrigeration cycle as needed.

How does cooling work?
1. As soon as the temperature inside the refrigerator rises above the set point, sensors alert the compressor to engage, and the refrigeration cycle begins. The unit draws in the cold liquid refrigerant, compresses it, condenses it, raises the temperature and turns it into a gas.

2. The compressor pushes the hot gas towards the condenser coils on the outside of the refrigerator, where it comes into contact with the lower air temperature in the room and returns to the liquid state.

3. The chilled liquid continues its journey toward the evaporator, moving through the coils inside the refrigerator and freezer compartment.

4. The cooler absorbs the hot air from inside the refrigerator, which brings the temperature back down to the desired set point.

5. The refrigerant evaporates, turns back into a gas, and returns to the compressor to continue the cycle.
